LUSH JACKIE OATES COLOUR SUPPLEMENT
So most people know lush because of their awesome bath products but I don't think many know that there is a make up range too. I didn't know till only 2-3 months ago. I hadn't heard much about any of the products on YouTube or the blogging community. Well at least not till about 3 weeks ago when people started doing full faces using products from the range.
I decided to pick up one of their foundations which they call a colour supplement. You can mix this colour supplement with a moisturiser or use it on it's own. They have a small shade range with only 7 shades. These shades go from jackie oates, light pink, light yellow, dark yellow, light brown, dark pink and dark brown. The shades go quite fair but not very dark unfortunately. I picked up jackie oates as it was the lightest shade and is neutral which is great.
This foundation retails for $16.50 AUD. This shade in particular is vegetarian and the rest i believe are vegan, they are all cruelty free though. In this jar you get 20g which is a decent size when taking into account that a little goes a very long way. This foundations ingredients are very beneficial for you skin which is amazing.
The ingredients are: Water, Oat milk, Safflower Oil, Aloe Vera Extract, Shea Butter, Stearic Acid, Rose Hip Oil, Glycerine, Cetearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Honey, Tincture of Benzoin, Lanolin, Tin Oxide, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, and then some colours.
So this unfortunately has a few chemicals but in comparison to most foundations it quote natural. Now with the shea butter you will find this moisturising. With the rose hip oil and aloe vera these will calm any redness and help fade scarring. Oat milk is very calming and great for sensitive skin and honey is very antibacterial.
So when I ordered this online I was hoping it would look as fair as it did online and was a perfect match. I though the little jar was so cute and different and an amazing for those who would like to be more conscious of their waste because you can re use it or recycle the glass and small plastic lid.
Now Lush say to use this with a moisturiser or on its own and apply with fingers. It doesn't mention using a primer before hand but I still like to either from with a matte primer or use a moisturiser with a high SPF as this foundations doesn't have any. My favourite way to apply is either with a small stippling brush or a flat top kabuki style. Applying with a beauty sponge works but I apply it that way when I am in a rush.
I don't use this foundation when I want a medium to full coverage because its a very light coverage for my skin. I think if your concerns were light scarring and a bit of redness this would be perfect. Now I love this foundation, I wear it most days. I gets rid of all my redness and evens out my skin tone. So you can still see my acne but it doesn't look as bad because all the redness is gone it just looks like bumps.
I don't set this foundation but you can if you like. I choose not to as it dries somewhat matte and even in the summer time over here in Australia is doesn't start to melt or wear off until the 2.5 -3 hour mark which is amazing.
So is this foundation for you? If you only have some redness and minor scarring then this will be perfect, especially paired with a powder that adds coverage. For my fellow people with acne and cystic acne this will be a great foundation for evening out skin tone and giving your skin a break from heavier foundations.
